Janet Bowen Ethier, 51, of Peachtree City, passed away peacefully December 2, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mark Ethier, her mother Norma Jean Bowen, and her mother-in-law June Ethier. Janet was born in Mt. Clemens, MI, and grew up in Columbus, Ga. She graduated from Columbus HIgh School and studied at Brenau College, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority.
She was employed by the Columbus Ledger-Inquirer and Siemens Corporation as an accountant. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies and a faithful member of Christ our Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister.
She will be remembered for her laughter, her commitment to her family, friends and ministry, and her courage in her decade-long battle with brain cancer. She is survived by her father and stepmother, George and Fran Bowen, brother George (Linda) M. Bowen, sisters Cindy Carter, Carole (Tom) Johnson and Rebecca (Clay) Ramsey, nieces Lindsey Carter and Lauren Johnson, nephew Bryan Johnson, and father-in-law Don Ethier.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at Christ our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City. The Rev. Miriam Beecher will officiate. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janet’s memory to Winship Cancer Institute Brain Tumor Research Fund (1762 Clifton Rd., Suite 1400, Atlanta, Ga. 30322) or Hospice Atlanta.
