Peachtree City resident David Gordon Moll, 56, of Rockspray Ridge, was charged Tuesday with one count of sexual exploitation of children after law enforcement agents found kiddie porn on his computer, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Moll turned himself in to the Fayette County Jail the same day, the GBI said.
Here’s what led to the arrest according to the GBI:
“As result of a search warrant executed on Friday, Oct. 20, 2011 at a residence in Peachtree City by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the Peachtree City Police Department, the GBI charged David Gordon Moll with one count of sexual exploitation of children after images of child pornography were found on his computer.
“Moll, 56, turned himself in Nov. 15 at the Fayette County Jail.
“The search warrant was obtained as a result of three cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that reported an unknown subject uploading numerous images of suspected child pornography and child erotica to and/or from a Yahoo! Flickr account.
“The IP address related to the uploaded images was resolved back to Moll of 143 Rockspray Ridge, Peachtree City, Ga,” the GBI said.
The address is off Log House Road near its intersection with Crosstown Road in southern Peachtree City. Oak Grove Elementary School is also nearby.
“During the search warrant, two computers and several external devices were seized,” the GBI said.
“The items were forensically examined by a Forensic Computer Specialist with the GBI Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. The forensic computer specialist identified numerous digital images of suspected child pornography on the items of evidence.
“This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, housed within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, to identify those involved in the child porn trade.
“The ICAC Program, created by the U. S. Department of Justice, was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the Internet, the proliferation of child pornography, and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims. The Task Force consists of 132 affiliate Georgia law enforcement agencies.
“In 2008, the Georgia ICAC Task Force made 109 arrests and in 2009 made 164 arrests. In 2010, the Task Force made 162 arrests. So far in 2011, the Task Force has made 134 arrests. There have been 769 arrests in Georgia by the ICAC Task Force since it was established in 2002,” the GBI said.
