Churches in Fayette County will cooperate on Oct. 1 for “Unite!” Weekend.

Dubbed “Compassion in Action,” the churches will work on a wide variety of projects, some accomplished by churches individually, some done in connection with other congregations.

This is the second year for “Unite!” in Fayette county. Some agencies benefitting from the work are Midwest Food Bank, Keep Peachtree City Beautiful, Pregnancy Resource Center, Christian City, Covenant House, and Real Life Center. A crew of 60 will do construction at Griffin Play Park, and another will provide tornado relief.

Participating churches include: First Baptist of Peachtree City, Dogwood Church, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran, Grace Evangelical, Peachtree City United Methodist, Power in Christ Ministries, Fayetteville First United Methodist, and North Fayette United Methodist, among others. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will include a “Unite!” team.

One estimate exceeds 500 volunteers spending the day helping others and providing services.
