The Senoia Area Historical Society museum was opened in July 2010 and is open each Friday and Saturday, 1-4 p.m.
Maureen Schuyler, 2011 chair of the museum committee advises that the society is dedicated to collecting, preserving and protecting our area’s history and historical artifacts.
The museum has much to offer and contains The Portrait of Senoia Room with stunning black & white photographs of townspeople taken by local fine art photographer Gary Gruby, along with The History Room with a timeline in old photos, information about previous homeowners, the Carmichael family; and facts about Chief McIntosh and Coweta County.
The Document Room holds land deeds from 1827 along with an impressive display case of U.S. postal memorabilia and a 1941 Girl Scout scrapbook. The Textile Room houses our lovely collection of vintage dresses and other clothing items of interest. The museum continues to evolve with additions from the community.
The society is a non-profit organization which receives no government aid and depends solely on donations and fund-raising. The museum committee will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 27 at the society’s house, 6 Couch Street in Senoia. Donations are appreciated and yard sale items can be dropped off at the house on Fridays and Saturdays, 1:00-4:00 p.m. while the museum is open.
