Stop trying to sell fur-lined gloves to PTC’s voters

Let’s imagine a situation in which a shop owner, in some far away place, asks the opinion of the employees in his glove shop in Peachtree City. He wants to know if they think fur-lined vs. unlined leather gloves will sell better here in Georgia.

There are five employees and three of the five explain that they think, because of our climate, that fur-lined gloves would not sell well. The other two feel that fur-lined is the way to go.

So the owner goes with the majority and stocks only unlined gloves. One of the two employees who recommended fur-lined gloves can’t let it go. He puts a sign in the window, “Management thinks fur-lined gloves are inappropriate — not sold here.” He wears a button that says, “Fur-lined gloves are BEST.” And, he wanders around the store muttering about how stupid it is not to stock fur lined gloves, and what bad advice the three employees had given, and . . .

Do you think customers are going to walk in off the street with any expectation of a pleasant shopping experience? Do you think the store is going to be successful?

Please, Mr. Haddix, don’t destroy our city’s positive reputation. The rules governing the City Council allow for each member to air his opinions before a vote is taken on an issue. After the vote is taken the members should uphold and support their decision.

When election time rolls around, should you decide to run again, you can re-hash all of your opinions. Then the electorate has the opportunity to express their opinions by voting to reelect you or not voting for you. That’s how it works.

Please don’t tarnish our City by tirades and petty accusations.
