Mr. Melvin L. Green, Jr., age 78, of Senoia, formerly of Fayette County, passed away on July 24, 2011.
He proudly served in the US Army. After 33 years of dedicated service, Mr. Green retired as a captain from Eastern Airlines. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Louis Green, Sr. and Margaret Nimmo Green.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol C. Green; sons, Michael Alan and his wife Lisa of Lakeville, MN; Russell Green and his wife Nivia of Pompano Beach, FL; Daniel Green and his wife Hether of Union City; Matthew Green and his wife Robin Hall of Atlanta; grandchildren, Derek, Kari, Savannah and Jeremiah Green; brothers, Robert ”Bobby” and his wife Dorothea of King William, VA; Dave “Buddy and his wife Vickie, of King William, VA; sisters-in-law, Dayle Haynes and Joan Gorsuch; and nieces & nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Wayne Turner officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
