Investigators with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on May 18 and 19 arrested two Atlanta residents on charges of identity fraud and theft.
Spokesperson Brent Rowan said the May 18 arrest was in connection to an identity fraud incident that occurred on March 31.
Investigators arrested Maria Andrews, 40, of Atlanta and charged her with identity fraud, said Rowan.
Rowan said the case involved Andrews unlawfully depositing a tax refund check belonging to a Fayette County citizen into her Bank of America account.
The second arrest was made on May 19 in connection to a cell phone theft.
Rowan said 25 year-old Atlanta resident Demario Antwan Heard was charged with theft by taking in connection to a May 17 incident. Rowan said Heard is charged with stealing a cellular telephone from Quality Used Auto Parts store in north Fayette County.
