A new steakhouse is primed for entry into Fayetteville. LongHorn Steakhouse has submitted plans to construct a restaurant at 1320 Ga. Highway 85 North, the site of the former Johnny Carino’s restaurant just south of the Fayette Pavilion. Fayetteville Planning and Zoning commissioners could approve the proposal at the April 26 meeting.

LongHorn project representative Brett Mashchak at the commission’s April 12 work session said the company would like to demolish the current building and replace it with a 6,242-square-foot restaurant that would meet the design characteristics of the corporate prototype.

Mashchak said the new building would occupy a similar footprint as the current structure and would include a similar lot orientation on the 1.77-acre site. Mashchak said the parking accommodations, too, would be configured in a similar fashion as was found with the previous restaurant, adding that the proposal includes 121 parking spaces for the 242-seat restaurant.

Included in the proposal is an exterior of stone and EFIS (multi-layered synthetic stucco) with sawn timber around the windows and a flat roof. The property would also see a significant amount of new landscaping, Mashchak said.

City planning staff are recommending approval of the proposal.

Planning commissioners were essentially complimentary of the thoroughness of the proposal. The commission’s voting meeting will be held April 26.

The proposed opening for the restaurant is contingent upon the time needed to demolish the existing structure and construct the replacement steakhouse.

After the demise of Bugaboo Creek steakhouse, Longhorn will mark a return of a chain steakhouse restaurant to Fayetteville’s north side.
