New legislation addressing golf cart operation and safety equipment steers completely clear of affecting Peachtree City in any way.

The latest version of Senate Bill 240 would not apply to communities like Peachtree City that already have ordinances authorizing the operation of golf carts, which the legislation refers to as “motorized carts.”

Rep. Matt Ramsey, R-Peachtree City, said that the legislature has benefitted from the advice of Peachtree City’s city attorney, Ted Meeker, in crafting the legislation.

Last year, Gov. Sonny Perdue vetoed a bill that would have banned 15-year-olds and unlicensed seniors from driving golf carts in Peachtree City and throughout the state.
