On December 10, 2010, Martha Ann Yarbrough Pendley, widow of David M. Pendley, Sr., went to be with the Lord and her deceased loved ones.
She leaves behind to join her later, her children, Susie Ferguson, David M. Pendley, Jr. and wife Angela; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Larry, Ashley Ferguson, Tommy, Jackie, Skylar and Kylie Ferguson, Holly, Rick and Dominic Steiskal, Adam Pendley and Carter Potts.
Martha had an exciting life, working in the 1940s as a secretary purchasing clerk for 8 states of the CAA (FAA) and a fashion model for Rich’s Department Store. She earned her LLB and passed the State Bar exam, received her BS in Education from Oglethorpe University, a Masters Degree from Emory University and a degree in Administration from Georgia State University. She taught school for 30 years in Fulton County and served as Principal of North Avenue School for 8 years.
After retirement she substituted regularly in Fayette County Schools. Martha loved children, both hers and yours. Please bring them to say goodbye, and leave her a daisy or a dandelion.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 12, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
