When Sandy Creek won the Class AAAA state championship last year, the first in football for any Fayette County school, many wondered if, and when, another local school would make it back to the title game.

The wait was not long at all. Sandy Creek, which dropped to Class AAA in the off-season, is in the state championship game against Carrollton this Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

But that comes after Starr’s Mill plays in their first AAAA state championship game in football at 8 p.m. on Friday night against Chattahoochee. Both games will be played in the Georgia Dome and both will be televised on GPB.

Follow The Citizen’s coverage of the games at www.thecitizen.com and/or www.twitter.com/citizensport on both Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
