Edward Eric “Ed” Persson, 88, of Peachtree City died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

He was the son of the late Eric Thurston Persson and Alice Olson Persson. Ed was born in Buffalo, New York on September 9, 1922. He attended Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in New York. Ed was a veteran of World War II, serving as a U.S. Army Air Corp officer, bombardier and navigator in the African-Italian theater. His career spanned 33 years as an engineer for Avery Dennison. A resident of Peachtree City since 1974, Persson was a talented water color artist, accomplished tennis player and avid fly fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Polly Candee Persson of Peachtree City, GA; sons Michael Persson & wife Janet of Leonardtown, Maryland and Richard Perssons & wife Leighann of Billings, Montana; four grandchildren & nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Peachtree City First Presbyterian Church with Dr. David Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Healthfield Hospice, 2525 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan, GA 30265.
