A Fayetteville man was killed this morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of McBride and Antioch roads in south Fayette County, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

James Buck, 55, was driving a 2004 Toyota Sequoia

when his vehicle was struck by a 1995 Nissan Altima as he entered the intersection at approximately 8:50 a.m., sheriff’s officials said.

The Altima driver, identified as Joshua Williams, 18, of Fayetteville, failed to stop at a stop sign, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The collision caused Buck’s SUV to leave the road and overturn, ejecting him from the vehicle.

Buck was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.

Williams and a passenger in his vehicle, James Massey, 16, of Fayetteville, were both taken to area hospitals by Fayette County emergency medical crews. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, officials said.

Prior to the crash, Buck’s SUV was traveling northward on Antioch Road and Williams was traveling eastbound on McBride Road, according to the sheriff’s office.

Charges are expected to be filed in connection with the crash, officials said. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Enforcement Section of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
