Mrs. Ruth Hamblin Crumpton, 88, of Tyrone died August 6, 2010.

She was a longtime resident of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her husband A.W. Crumpton, her son, Ricky Crumpton and a granddaughter, Gina Crumpton.

Ruth was born on November 14, 1921 in Corbin, Kentucky. She raised her family in Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Peachtree City in 1968. She graduated valedictorian from Loyall High School and later attended Georgia State University. Ruth was a beautician and owned the first beauty shop in Peachtree City. She taught cosmetology at North Clayton High School from 1976 to 1986. After retiring from teaching, she worked for Gene Evans Ford.

She is survived by her sons, Eddie Crumpton of Tyrone; Ronnie Crumpton of Tyrone; Joel Crumpton of McDonough; Robin Crumpton of Peachtree City; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday August 8, 2010 from 2 to 4 PM at C.J. Mowell and Son in Peachtree City. A graveside service will be held Monday August 9, 2010 at 12 noon (CST) at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Pkwy, Marietta, Ga 30067.
