TNT arrests five on drug charges

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) has concluded four investigations into the sale, possession or use of illegal narcotics. These investigations have led to the arrests of 5 people.

The first incident occurred Monday, July 19 in the parking lot of a Fayette county business. Two males met with a TNT agent acting in an undercover capacity. The two males, identified as Darius R. McDaniels, 23, of Union City, Ga. and Jabari D. Clowers, 22, of Hapeville, Ga. met with and sold approximately 450 grams of marijuana to the undercover agent said TNT Capt. Jody Thomas. Both subjects were taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. McDaniels was charged with sale of marijuana. Clowers was charged with sale of marijuana and obstruction of a law enforcement officer, Thomas said.

Thomas said the second incident occurred Tuesday, July 20. A male, identified as Juan Lara-Garza, 23, of Buford, Ga. sold approximately 24 grams of marijuana to a TNT agent acting in an undercover capacity in the parking lot of a Fayette County shopping center. Lara-Garza was taken into custody without incident and charged with sale of marijuana, said Thomas.

The third incident occurred Wednesday, July 28. TNT agents executed a search warrant at 505 Chase Drive Fayetteville. Thomas said agents took the tenant, Stephen Quick, 30, into custody. Agents seized approximately 78 grams of marijuana and ten Xanax pills among other items used for ingesting illegal substances. Quick was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a schedule IV substance, said Thomas.

And on Monday, August 2, TNT agents conducted a buy bust operation at a Fayette County shopping center. Agents acting in an undercover capacity met with a male, identified as Quatavious Blackwell, 21, of Fairburn, Ga. Blackwell sold approximately 30 grams of Marijuana to an undercover agent, Thomas said. Blackwell was taken into custody without incident. During a search of his vehicle agents discovered a handgun where Blackwell had been seated in his vehicle. Blackwell is charged with sale of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Tactical Narcotics Team is a multi-agency unit under the command of the Sheriff of Fayette County. The unit consists of members of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Tyrone Police Department, Fayetteville Police Department and Peachtree City Police Department.
