Helene Nina Esposito Dolan of Peachtree City passed away on July 6th following a lengthy illness.

Born in New Haven, Conn. on 02-09-35, she was the eldest child of Andrew Esposito and Helen Falcone Esposito. Helene met her future husband, Larry J. Dolan, in New Haven, while he attended Yale University .

She “pinned his wings on” when he graduated with honors from Yale’s ROTC program as an Air Force 1st Lieutenant and Political Scientist. They immediately began a lifetime of travel, whether for pleasure or to move varying work assignments. Hence they lived in many U.S. locales, and in several places in Puerto Rico (her husband’s birthplace).

Helene and by-then Lt. Col. Dolan moved to Georgia upon his retirement from the military in 1979. Married for 41 years until his death in 1994, Helene subsequently established herself in Peachtree City .

Her P’tree City neighbors came to count on seeing her pedaling by on her bicycle; playing her piano; cooking to-die-for Italia foods; feeding any stray humans or animals who came into her orbit; watching, collecting , and elucidating upon “old” movies, participating in activities with her church (Holy Trinity Catholic), shopping at bookstores, toy stores, bike stores and Talbot’s, et al.

Survivors include a daughter, Maria Helena Dolan and Maria Helena’s partner, Chris Carroll, of Decatur, GA; a son, Larry J. Dolan, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Cave Spring, Ga; a beloved granddaughter, Elena Marie Dolan, also of Cave Spring; her mother; Helen Esposito Cipriano of New Haven, Ct; a sister, Mrs. Nancy G. Astorino and her husband, Paul Marvel, of East Haven, Ct; a half sister Joanne Pernall and her husband Tommy of New Haven, Ct; a half brother Peter Cipriano and his wife Debbie of New Haven, Ct and numerous beloved relations and friends.

The family will receive friends at Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City on Friday, July 09 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 2 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtrtee City, with internment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Helene’s name to some of her favorite charities, including Defenders of Wildlife and The Little Sisters of Jesus.
