Matilda E. Barrett (Viehmann), 84, passed away on June 2, 2010 at her home in Peachtree City, GA.

She was born in Richmond Hill, New York on November 24, 1925. She lived on Long Island for 35 years before moving to Peachtree City in 1985. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was an active parishioner before taking ill in her later years.

Mattie was a devoted wife and mother who took special joy in the company of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward F. Barrett, Sr., and her son Edward F. Barrett, Jr. (Ronni) of West Stockbridge, MA.

She is survived by her brother John Viehmann (Barbara) of Concord, NC and her children Joseph McNulty (Kathleen) of Long Beach, NY , Bruce Barrett (Ann) of Jacksonville, FL, Pamela Nassauer (Bill) of St. Augustine, FL, Lynn Kahl (Kevin) of Senoia, GA, Mary Sandoval (Ken) of Peachtree City, GA, Frances O’Connor (Edward) of Sharpsburg, GA, Shawn West (Michael) of Sharpsburg, Kelly Barnes (Tom) of Sharpsburg, GA, Timothy Barrett (Cathleen) of Suwannee, GA and Tara Barrett (Eydie) of Peachtree City, GA. Mattie is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A Mass in celebration of her abundant life will take place Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 4, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son, 200 Robinson Road , Peachtree City, GA.
