Hi, there! I apologize for abandoning my “post” the past couple of weeks, but I spent a few beautiful days on the Gulf Coast. While I’m still missing the daily walks on the beach and the constant dolphin swim-bys, I’m happy to be back to daily life in the land of tree-lined streets, sign ordinances, and zoning!
We’ve got a lot of events going on this weekend in Peachtree City, the biggest of which is the SuperSprint Triathlon at Drake Field and City Hall, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Traffic Alert! on this one. Athletes will swim one mile in Lake Peachtree, bike 25 miles around the City, and run 6.2 miles through Peachtree City and Fayette County. Please expect congestion around City Hall and some road delays along Willowbend, Hip Pocket, Kelly Drive, McIntosh Trail, and Robinson Road. For a map of the course, visit www.Tri4Gold.org . Due to the size of the event, the Peachtree City Library will delay opening until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Other events this weekend include the first of the Summer Concert Series shows at The Fred, Gloria Gaynor & The Village People on Saturday night (www.amphitheater.org). Southern Conservation Trust is hosting an introduction to Geocaching on Saturday afternoon at Line Creek Nature Area from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
Also, just a quick Path Safety Reminder – With the opening of the Hwy 54 West bridge and tunnels, golf cart drivers must now use this safer route rather than crossing at Planterra Way, MacDuff Parkway, or Market Place. In Peachtree City, No Golf Carts may cross Hwy 74 or Hwy 54. Golf carts may cross Highway 54 just outside Peachtree City at the traffic signals in front of the Peachtree East Shopping Center/Steinmart. Also, the sidewalks along Highway 74 are not legal for golf cart use, and signs are in place. The Police Department will begin issuing warning notices now that the tunnels/bridges are open.
And finally, the Planning Department has posted the concept plan and related documents for the proposed Walgreens at Peachtree Parkway and Highway 54 at www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?NID=838
Thanks, and have a great week!
