Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Edward Shirley of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Allison Shirley, to Robert James Verhine, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Everett Verhine II of Decatur, Ala.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. Benjamin Collins Maxwell and the late Dr. Maxwell of Atmore, Ala., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Eugene Shirley of Montgomery, Ala. She is a 2004 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and a May 2008 graduate of The University of Alabama, earning a bachelor of arts in public relations. She is currently employed by The University of Alabama as an admissions counselor.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert John Bessey of West Point, Miss., and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Everett Verhine of Memphis, Tenn. He is a 2005 graduate of Sparkman High School in Harvest, Ala. and a May 2009 graduate of The University of Alabama, earning a bachelor of arts in criminal justice. He is currently a graduate teaching assistant while earning his master’s of science in criminal justice at The University of Alabama.
A July wedding is planned. Following their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Tuscaloosa.
