King William McElwaney, III, 67, of Jupiter, Fla., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at his residence.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., he had been a resident of Jupiter for nine years, coming from Palm Beach, Fla. Prior to retirement, he was the director of operations for Delta Air Lines at LaGuardia Airport, Logan Airport and JFK.

Mr. McElwaney was the coordinator for the 1996 Summer Olympics for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta. He recently started his own property management company, Complete Home Check of Jupiter.

Mr. McElwaney was a member of Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan where he and his wife were married in 1997 by Dr. Arthur Caliandro.

He is survived by his wife, M.J. McElwaney of Jupiter; his daughters, Eden and Erin McElwaney of Fayetteville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Dorian Hedgepath of Delray Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Mark (Diane, niece Diana) Westerman of Melbourne, Fla.; and one sister, Jan Gibson of Newnan, Ga. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Anthony (Rita) McElwaney.

A celebration of King’s life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center Street, Jupiter, Fla.
