A reception was held Sunday, Mar. 28 for Mrs. Ruth McCommon, Congregational Nurse for First Baptist Church Peachtree City, in honor of her retirement.
Friends, family, and people whom Mrs. Ruth served in the community lined up to spend a few minutes to say, “thank you for all you’ve done for us”.
Mrs. Ruth touched many lives. She lived God’s purpose for her life. She showed Jesus to others by being a godly wife, mother, grandmother, missionary, nurse and friend. She served First Baptist PTC church as a nurse for 11 years. Not only did she minister to church members but also to members of the community who were in need. She was always “on duty” for what was suppose to be a part time position.
At a convention about eight years ago she heard a woman speaker say, ” If you are not operating a free community clinic, then you are not doing what Jesus did.” That was God’s way of planting the dream in her mind for a free clinic in PTC. She shared that dream with others in the church and community and now it has become a reality. First Baptist and PTC have much to be thankful for because of how God used Ruth’s skills, talents and love.
As her ministry comes to a close here, her friends believe that God is just opening a new door in Dallas, Texas for that community to be blessed by Nurse Ruth.
