An Alabama man was arrested on charges of kidnapping after removing his 3 year-old biological daughter from her mother’s home in Tyrone Feb. 24 and taking her to the home of relatives in Alabama. The child was returned to her mother unharmed.
Tyrone Police spokesperson Steve Lafferty said Jeremy Nicholas McCart, 24, of Glencoe, Alabama, was in Tyrone at the home of his wife on Feb. 24, where the two were apparently trying to work out their problems.
At one point McCart went upstairs with the 3 year-old, Lafferty said. An hour or two later a relative went upstairs to check on them, finding McCart and his daughter missing.
Lafferty said Tyrone officers on Feb. 24 obtained a warrant that was served by law enforcement authorities in Alabama. Lafferty said McCart was taken into custody the same day and the daughter was returned to her mother.
McCart was subsequently extradited to Georgia, Lafferty said.
