“Love Makes a Family”
A Magical, Musical Benefit Concert by The Legacy Theatre is today at 8 p.m. in Tyrone. This
ONE NIGHT ONLY event will feature some of the Legacy’s most memorable and beloved performances from past seasons as well as some incredible new ones.
Mark and Bethany Smith, founders of The Legacy Theatre, have adopted hundreds of
young actors and artists over the past few years. Most recently however they adopted a son, and now their generous hearts are adopting a second child in January 2014. In celebration of this, their artistic family has joined forces to host a benefit in their honor and in honor of the family they’ve created and nurtured in the Atlanta theatrical community through their work at The Legacy.
Tickets are $20 General Admission and $15 for Industry Professionals, $10 for children and additional donations welcome.
Register now for the Winter Lego Camps for the week of December 30 to January 3 (no camps on Wednesday, January 1). Play-Well TEKnologies will hold two classes this week. Peachtree City is seeking volunteers to serve on the Recreation & Special Events Advisory Board (one member, one alternate); Peachtree City Airport Authority (one member, one alternate); Peachtree City Water & Sewerage Authority (one member, one alternate); and the Peachtree City Convention & Visitors Bureau (three members, one alternate – one retail representative, local Hotel/Motel representative, one local business owner, and an alternate for the hotel/motel seat). The Peachtree City Dog Park is offering free admission through New Year’s Day. This allows local college students coming home for the holidays to exercise their dogs, families to host visiting relatives who have dogs, and lets local dog owners who haven’t checked out the park to try it at no charge. The Peachtree City Dog Park Association is a non-profit organization that operates and manages the facility through a contract with City. All Peachtree City offices will be closed Tuesday & Wednesday, December 24 & 25, for the Christmas Holiday, and on Wednesday, January 1, for the New Year’s Holiday.

“Bring One for the Chipper,” today and receive a free tree seedling (while supplies last). Once again, Keep Peachtree City Beautiful and the Rotary Club of Peachtree City will have three locations for Christmas Tree recycling. In addition to the Peachtree City Recycling Center on Hwy 74 S, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Peachtree City will be available at the Kedron Kroger Store (behind the center) and the Peachtree City Home Depot parking lot. Bring your tree, free of lights, tinsel, and ornaments, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The rotary volunteers will be distributing seedlings and accepting donations for local community food banks.

The Peachtree City Garden Club will host its monthly meeting at The Bridge Community Center, 225 Willowbend Road in Peachtree City. Jo Phillips, Horticulture Manager at Hills & Dates Estate in LaGrange, will speak on “Heirloom Plants for Southern Gardens” and will discuss the heirloom plants at the Hills & Dales gardens and make recommendations on the best old-fashioned plants for your own Southern garden. Social time begins at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10 a.m. Guests are welcome.
