After an extensive search, members of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone hired Kenneth A. White as their new director of music ministries. The native Atlantan has a stellar reputation throughout the southeast as both a director and performer of a wide variety of music.
White has 30 years experience in sacred church music, 25 years experience in conducting professional symphony orchestras, 30 years experience in audio-visual and lighting, and 18 years experience as an artistic director and professional fund raiser in the community orchestra and choral arena.
Some of his major accomplishments include: Creative director in recent years behind the lavish productions such as “Dickens Village” presented by Fayetteville’s Heritage Christian Church; various years as guest and staff soloist with Atlanta’s First United Methodist Church; served as a creative and tech team member for four years on the music ministry staff at Peachtree City United Methodist Church; served across five years as church music director and more notably producer of “The Living Christmas Tree” at Mount Carmel Christian Church in Stone Mountain; also served for 13 years as the minister of music at Southwest Christian Church in East Point, producing church choral, orchestral, and men’s quartet recordings to support missions.
“Hopewell is understandably proud to have such an accomplished man with such a full background as their director of music ministries,” a church spokesperson said.
White says he is working hard to generate enthusiasm and increase the size of the music program at Hopewell. He currently divides his time between the Tyrone church, professional fitness training, and seasonal music recording and producing.
Hopewell is at 351 Jenkins Road, directly across from Sandy Creek High. For more information about the church, the music program, or to contact Ken White, call the church office, 770-306-7537.
