Traci Rylands speaks to Historical Society

October 20 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The community is invited to the Sunday, October 20, meeting of the Fayette County Historical Society at 3 p.m. at the Margaret Mitchell Research Center, 195 Lee Street in Fayetteville.  Our speaker is Traci Rylands.

Traci is a graduate of Fayette County High School and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia. While a student at the University of Georgia, Traci took obituaries over the phone at the Athens Daily News.  Her first job after college was with a company that sold “pre-need” funeral plan insurance policies

Traci didn’t take an interest in cemeteries until 2012 when she became a photo volunteer for FindaGrave.com, an online database of cemeteries around the world. It was then she began sharing stories from the cemeteries she visited via her blog, AdventuresinCemetery Hopping.com. The blog provides unique insights about the people honored in local cemeteries. The term “cemetery hopping” came from when she moves from grave to grave trying to locate a specific grave.

You’ll want to come and hear her stories on Sunday, October 20, at 3 p.m. at the Margaret Mitchell Research Center, 195 Lee Street in Fayetteville.
