Ross Green speaks to Historical Society
November 17 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Ross Greene’s passion for World War II and determination to share his uncle’s inspiring story led to the extensive research required to write A Fortress and a Legacy. This book represents a gift not only to his cousin – the daughter his uncle never knew – but to all who share an appreciate for the boys who sacrificed so much for the cause of freedom.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Ross at the November 17 meeting of the Fayette County Historical Society at 3 p.m. at the Margaret Mitchell Research Center, 195 Lee Street in Fayetteville.
A Fortress and a Legacy combines stunning historical accuracy with the pathos of a family torn by war. An exchange of letters between Knoxville native and B-17 bombardier Bud Perrin and his bride, a former Miss America contestant, gives this story heart and soul.
The book captivates readers with its portrayal of the cross-current of personal relationship set against the background of enlistment, training, and execution of bombing missions over continental Europe.
The community is invited to attend this special meeting. Learn about the Great War and Ross’ research. You’ll also want to stick around for refreshments and shop. We have unique Christmas gifts including ornaments of Starr’s Mill and the Old Courthouse and Courthouse tiles.
