Historical Society hosts mayor

The Fayette County Historical Society welcomes Rev. Ed Johnson, mayor of Fayetteville, as the speaker for the May 20 meeting at 3 p.m. at the Margaret Mitchell Research Center. He has been a Fayetteville elected official since 2012, serving first as a city councilman and since 2016 as the mayor.

A native of New Orleans, La., Rev. Johnson is a retired U.S. Navy commander and educator who now serves as full-time pastor of Flat Rock African Methodist Episcopal Church. He and his wife, Dr. Vanessa O. Johnson, have two sons and three granddaughters.
He will share with us the state of Fayetteville, along with a history of Flat Rock AME church.

The community is invited to attend the Fayette County Historical Society’s meeting on Sunday, May 20th at 3 p.m.at 195 Lee Street in Fayetteville.
