Boys Basketball
FAYETTE COUNTY defeated McIntosh 73-56 Saturday night at home. Dante’ Sterling scored 32 points and sank 6 three-points, while C.J. Johnson scored 16 and Chaz Berry scored 11.
McINTOSH won 100-88 Friday night against Drew in a region matchup. After Saturday’s loss to Fayette County, the Chiefs are 7-2 on the season. Jordan Lyons is averaging 23.5 points per game and Will Washington has a 16.3 average, while Dishon Lowery is the team’s leading rebounder with an 8.0 average.
SANDY CREEK is now 5-0 after a 71-49 win over Starr’s Mill and a 57-48 victory against Newnan. Brandon Lindsey scored 21 to lead the Patriots in the Starr’s Mill game.
LANDMARK fell 105-95 to Osborne Monday night in a non-region game, bringing its record to 6-2 and 1-1.

Girls Basketball
WHITEWATER defeated Mt. Zion 47-45 in a Dec. 10 game behind Jada Coggins’ 22 points and 8 rebounds as well as Kaelyn Dugger’s 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Wildcats won Friday 47-45 over Mundy’s Mill to move to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in region play, as Coggins scored 22, Dugger added 9 and Danielle Ross scored 8.
FAYETTE COUNTY won its home opener Saturday night 44-29 over McIntosh. Kayla Smith led the Lady Tigers with 17 points, followed by Latia Styles (12), Aaliyah Davis (6), Asia Harper (5) and Whitney Williams (4).
LANDMARK lost 52-38 Friday night to Mt. Paran. Joy Stucker led the team with 13 points and Jillian Price scored 8.
STARR’S MILL won 58-42 against Mt. Zion Friday night in what head coach Shane Ratliff called a “great team effort.” Katie Wilson and Katie Buck led the way with 15 points apiece.

Wrestling
FAYETTE COUNTY improved to 16-3 on the season with wins over Starr’s Mill, LaGrange and Villa Rica. In the South Metro tournament, the Tigers placed individual wrestlers in seven weight classes: Caleb Sellers (second, 113); JohnMichael Axelberg (third, 126); Cody McMillan (fifth, 138); Devyn Wash (fourth, 152); Kyle Leinberger (fourth, 170); Kimani Nasrullah (sixth, 195); and Christian Ingalls (first, 220).
STARR’S MILL finished fifth in the CRWA tournament in Bowden over the weekend, with medals going to Martin (third); Newman (fourth); Parrish (first); Schaper (second); and Carter (third).
WHITEWATER took third place as a team at the South Metro Invitational at Alcovy High School last weekend. Barrett Martin (170) finished second while Reid Loveless (106) came in third, as did Alex Walker (160) and Zach Thorne (138). Cole Raines (heavyweight), Logan Wesolowski (132) and Greg Pasquarella (120) were fourth. Christian Winslett (182) came in fifth. The Wildcats picked up dual wins over South Paulding and Rockmart last Wednesday night in Douglasville.

Swimming
McINTOSH won a dual meet last Friday against Starr’s Mill. Maalik Nixon placed first in the boys 50 free (22.85) and Chipper Machmehl won the boys 200 free (1:52.06), both of which are state qualifying times. Alexandra Schmid made the state cut with her win in the girls 500 free (5:33.95), as did the 400 free relay team of Schmid, Courtney Bond, Jessica Gomez and Samantha Schmid.
