It was a big day last Saturday in Carrollton for Fayette County’s cross-country contingent.

Starr’s Mill took second place in AAAAA for boys and girls, while Landmark won state titles yet again in the A Private classification.

Whitewater came in fifth and McIntosh eighth among AAAAA boys teams. Top individual finishers included Nick Hyman of Starr’s Mill (second), Harry Harp of Whitewater (fifth) and Vladimir Zander-Velloso of McIntosh (tenth).

For the girls, McIntosh finished just behind Starr’s Mill in third place overall. Megan Uszynski of McIntosh was second individually, followed by Megan Dobso of Starr’s Mill in third. Zoe Smith of McIntosh was ninth and Ashley McMahon of Whitewater was tenth.

Landmark had three of the top five finishers in the A Private boys race. Peachtree City resident Seth Cruver crossed the finish line first, ahead of teammate Kermit Jackson of Fairburn. Kameron Jackson was fifth. The team score of 38 points was far ahead of second-place Hebron Christian’s 107.

The top five female runners for Landmark all made the top ten: Nicole Fegans, first; Sarah Foreman, fourth; Erin Fegans, sixth; Mary Kellison Thorne, eighth; and Lindsey Bigger, tenth. That gave the team 25 points, with second-place Wesleyan far behind at 133.
