Artemis Kadkhodaian, a sophomore second baseman for the University of West Georgia and a Starr’s Mill graduate, has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, the first time this season a member of the Wolves has received the honor.

In a two-game sweep over Christian Brothers, he went 5-for-8 with a double, a home run, five RBI and five runs scored.

He had a 1.125 slugging percentage for the week and also extended his team stolen base lead with two swipes in the weekend.

For the season, Kadkhodaian has started all 39 games where he has played and is third on the team with a .329 batting average. He has six doubles, two home runs and 29 RBI with a .404 on-base percentage along with 14 stolen bases in 17 attempts this year.

He is also a whiz at second base, committing just seven errors on the year and he has quickly become one of the fastest to turn around a double play in the conference, according to a team spokesperson.

In high school he led the Panthers to the state semifinals and was named Region 4-AAAAA Player of the Year.
