Junior golfers compete at local tourney

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Senoia June 6-7 for the Canongate Series #4. The Canongate Seminole Course played excellent host to two very competitive rounds of junior golf.

Trophy winners in all five divisions received an invitation to the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational and winners additionally received an invitation to the 2015 HJGT National Championship. Additionally, the top ten finishers in each division received points towards year end honors which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup. AJGA PBE stars, Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings, and SCJGA Points were also at stake.

In the 15-18 boys division, Joshua Grenville-Wood of Peachtree City and Carson Whitton of Newnan were tied for the lead after the opening round. Grenville-Wood held on to take first place with his toughest final-round competition coming from David Bartels of Peachtree City.

Cameron Daniel of Sharpsburg led wire to wire in the 15-18 girls division to capture her first win of the season. She was up by six shots after the first round of play.

Brandon Cho capitalized on a strong final round to win the 13-14 boys division after trailing by three shots at the end of the first round.

Evan Reed won the 11-12 boys division with Renato Gerena Jr. of Peachtree City finishing third.

Elise Schultz of Pace, Fla., won the 11-14 girls division on the second playoff hole over Liza Eubanks of Peachtree City. Both golfers shot matching 81s both days of the tournament to force the playoff.
