Mya Mackiewicz and Stephanie Bedenice attend Liberty Tech Charter School in Brooks. On a recent Saturday they “went above and beyond,” according to Janet Mackiewicz – baking cookies and brownies in the morning, then walking through the Beaverbrook subdivision in Fayetteville, collecting money and clothes donations to send to Third World countries.

Their teacher is Jennifer Loveless, a sixth-grade teacher at Liberty Tech.

“These precious girls are lighting the fire under my feet. What an incredible inspiration they are,” said Loveless.

“I had asked the class if they would like to help fund school supplies and costs for children in a Third World country. I have direct connections with wonderful people who visit Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Brazil, Guyana, and Guatemala and have actually started schools for the indigenous tribes or orphan children. I will be contacting my friends in these countries and see what country (people group) needs our assistance the most. I would love for this to be a year commitment. Mya and Stephanie have already made a jump start.”
