    Roderick “Rod” James Miller age 63, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on September 28, 2015.

    A long-time resident of Fayetteville, Ga., he was a member of Woolsey Baptist Church where he led a Sunday school class before his illness. He was born May 4, 1952, the oldest of 4 children. Rod graduated from Forest Park High School in 1970 and went to work for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an Apprentice Printer in the Composing Department, shortly after graduation. He was promoted to Assistant Foreman early in his career, charged with the production of the classified pages. He later advanced to the position of Executive Forman and eventually to the Department Manager position in 1992. In 2000, he was promoted to Operations Manager of Prepress & Production Systems Development, his final position in a career that spanned 38 years.

 Rod was a lover of classic cars and classic rock. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being in the great outdoors. Rod participated in the Alzheimer’s Walk every year.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jacqueline Miller. Rod was a devoted father to Ryan Miller (Sherrie), Alyson Massengill (David), Ashley Caspary (Jason), and Kari Grant (Robert). He was dearly known as Grandpa to his 6 grandchildren; Owen Massengill, Liam Massengill, Henry Caspary, Madeleine Miller, Noah Massengill, and Callan Miller.

    Rod is predeceased by his father James Miller and step-father Harold Bradford.

    He is survived by his mother Vivian Bradford and three sisters Deborah Hamby (Bob), Cynthia Broxton (David), and Deana Stevens (Timothy).

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, with Rev. Chuck Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who desire may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or VITAS Hospice.
