L. Edward Vaughan, 87, of Peachtree City, Ga., passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016. He was born in Black Wolfe, W.Va. on February 1, 1929 to Walter Preston Vaughan and Margie Fannie Vaughan.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Vaughan, of Peachtree City, Ga., and son, Randy (Makiko) Vaughan, of Alpharetta, Ga.

They were blessed to be married for 61 years. Ed, as he was known to his family and friends, served two enlistments in the U.S. Navy, 1946-48 and 1948-52, including two years on board the battleship U.S.S. Missouri during the Korean War. After graduating from Valparaiso Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in Radio Engineering Technology in 1954, he was hired by Motorola C&E, Inc. in January 1955. He would spend the next 35 years in various positions in Engineering, Service, and Sales, until retiring from their Atlanta office in March, 1990 as the Southeast Area Manager of National Telephone Markets.

Ed and Anita have been residents of Peachtree City since 1979, and were well known by many in the community. Prior to moving to the area, they had previously resided in Crystal Lake, Ill. (1971-79), East Point, Ga. (1962-71), North Kansas City, Mo. (1957-62), and Oak Park, Ill. (1955-57). He is especially remembered both by the retirees group at McDonalds in Peachtree City, and by those who worked with him during his 35 years at Motorola, for his quick wit and sense of humor.

The Vaughan family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, 200 Robinson Rd., Peachtree City, Ga.
