Dorothy “Dot” Marshall Camp, age 93, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away on October 4, 2016 following a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  

Dot was born on November 2, 1922 in Oconee County, Ga., the daughter of the late James W. and Mamie Carson Marshall.  She was united in marriage to Robert Duke Camp on January 18, 1947 in Farmington, Ga.  Dot worked for the Southern Railway and Liberty Cable with her primary focus being a wife and mother. She also contributed to the war effort during WWII by working as a supervisor at the munitions plant in Macon, Ga.  

A true southern lady, Dot was known for her entertaining, playing bridge, and her skills as a seamstress. Dot loved gardening and birds of all kinds.   During her marriage, Dot lived in Greenville, S.C. and McRae, Ga., finally moving to Fayetteville in 1996 to be near her only child. She loved her community, her neighbors in Woodgate, and volunteering at Piedmont Fayette in the early years. Dot was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Duke Camp; her parents; her brothers, John Calvin Marshall, Sr. and James E. Marshall; and her sister Alberta Marshall Hale.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Charles Wilkerson; her grandchildren, Jaclyn and Noah Wilkerson, all of Fayetteville; and cherished nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Reverend Allyson Lawrence officiating.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, Ga. on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
