1,655 Fayette graduates to march for diplomas Friday

The Fayette County School System’s graduating class of 2015 will be front and center for graduation ceremonies at the county’s five high schools Friday night where 1,655 graduates will receive their diplomas. 

Listed below by school is information on the number of graduates, the percentage of students planning to enroll in post-secondary education and the total scholarship awards.

All graduations ceremonies will be held on May 22 at 7 p.m.

Graduation ceremonies at Fayette County High School will be held in the stadium. Inclement weather plans will have the graduation on May 23 at 10 a.m. in Tiger Stadium.

The FCHS graduating class is expected to include 333 students. FCHS this year did not track the number of students who will be attending post-secondary education institutions.

FCHS students received approximately $1.032 million in scholarships, excluding the HOPE Scholarship.

Graduation ceremonies at McIntosh High School will be held in the stadium, with inclement weather plans calling for ceremonies to be held at the stadium on May 23 at 10 a.m.

The McIntosh graduating class is expected to include 363 students, with approximately 95 percent planning to pursue post-secondary education.

McIntosh students received approximately $3.08 million in scholarships, excluding the HOPE Scholarship.

Graduation ceremonies at Sandy Creek High School will be held in the stadium. Inclement weather plans call for graduation on May 23 in the stadium with the time to be announced.

The Sandy Creek graduating class is expected to include 255 students. Sandy Creek this year did not track the number of students planning to attend post-secondary institutions.

Sandy Creek students will receive approximately $3.5 million in scholarships, excluding the HOPE Scholarship.

Graduation ceremonies at Starr’s Mill High School will be held in the stadium.

Inclement weather plans call for ceremonies to be held in the stadium at 10 a.m. on May 23. If condition warrant, the graduation will be held in the gym at 10 a.m. and will have guests limited to four tickets per graduate.

The Starr’s Mill graduating class is expected to include 355 graduates, with 331 of those planning to attend a post-secondary institution.

Starr’s Mill students will receive approximately $7.7 million in scholarships, excluding the HOPE Scholarship.

Graduation ceremonies at Whitewater High School will be held in the stadium. The inclement weather date will be in the stadium on May 23 with the time to be announced.

The Whitewater graduating class is expected to include 349 students, of which 321 are planning to attend a post-secondary school.

Whitewater students will receive approximately $3.3 million in scholarships, excluding the HOPE Scholarship.
