The RoboChicks team of Brittany Clarke, a 9th-grader from Starr’s Mill High School ,and Madison Kenney, a 7th grade Coweta County home schooler, won an award in every category of a recent underwater robotics competition.

The two young women competed in the Seaperch Underwater Robotics Competition on March 28 at the Chamblee Charter High School.

They won 1st Place Presentation, 2nd Place Robot Performance and 1st Place Overall. They also won a spot in the Seaperch National Competition where they will represent Georgia (Division 1) at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth on May 30.

The award winners were given the Seaperch kit by 100 Scholars Alliance and given only 11 days to build, create a presentation, and learn to drive the robot all before the competition. They took the challenge and achieved more than they expected for a first time underwater robotics team.
