Help clean up Lake Peachtree
June 16 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Calling all Water Guardians! Fayette County is asking for assistance with our next clean-up of Lake Peachtree June 16 at 8 a.m.
As you may be aware, Lake Peachtree is currently lowered due to ongoing construction of the new spillway. Please bring an old pair of walking shoes along with your orange 2018 Water Guardians t-shirt and help us make the most of this opportunity to retrieve trash that would otherwise be submerged.
Fayette County Commissioner Steve Brown will be leading the project. “We will not have another opportunity to clean up a dry lake bed for decades,” said Brown. “This is an excellent opportunity for our citizens to protect our drinking water for years to come.”
Interested participants can register for this event by emailing your name, daytime phone number, contact email address and t-shirt size, to be worn the day of the event, to WaterGuardians@fayettecountyga.gov.
Each volunteer will be provided a trash grabber, trash bags and bottled water. Please note that a liability waiver will be sent to all volunteers and MUST be completed to participate. This also applies to previous volunteers.
Thanks to the generous support of the engineering firm Jacobs (formerly CH2M) and Bent On Grilling, LLC, we will be serving lunch after the clean-up. Please plan to stay and enjoy the food and fellowship.
Please remember to bring your waiver, sun screen, and a hat the day of the event. In the case of rain, all registered participants will be notified via email with a rescheduled time and date.
