Southern Crescent Chorale, pianist Shai Wosner to appear at Spivey Hall

Clayton State University’s Spivey Hall  will host two acclaimed performances during the weekend of March 7 and 8.

On Saturday, March 7, at 8 p.m., the Southern Crescent Chorale perform under the leadership of conductor Janice Folsom.

The Southern Crescent Chorale holds an important place in the vibrant arts community of south metro Atlanta and is comprised of amateur and professional singers. The group delivers dynamic performances under the passionate leadership of veteran artistic director and conductor Folsom. The chorale returns to Spivey Hall for its 11th appearance with “Americana,” a moving program featuring American folk music, hymns and spirituals. Selections will include “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” “America the Beautiful,” “God of Our Fathers,” “Shenandoah,” and “Cindy.”

Pianist Shai Wosner will appear Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m.

Wosner has attracted international recognition for his exceptional artistry, musical integrity and creative insight. His performances of a broad range of repertoire, from Beethoven and Mozart to Schoenberg and Ligeti, as well as music by his contemporaries, communicate his imaginative programming and intellectual curiosity. Wosner has been widely praised for his interpretations of Franz Schubert’s solo works, both in concert and on recordings.

His Spivey Hall recital will feature  Schubert’s four Impromptus, D.935, interwoven with Impromptus Opp. 29 and 51by Frédéric Chopin, plus Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata in C major, Op. 2, No. 3.
