The Joseph Sams School (JSS), a private, non-profit organization serving students with special needs in Fayetteville, recently received a $20,000 grant from The Clothes Less Traveled Thrift Shop (CLT).

Founded in l997, CLT is a non-profit, non-denominational faith-based initiative that provides grant funding to help many local charities further their mission and make a difference in the community.

CLT resells gently used clothing, household items, and books at fair and reasonable prices then distributes net profits to numerous worthwhile charitable organizations in the community.

As in previous years, the 2015 grant funds will be used to support basic operational costs of The Sams School. This vital funding assists the school in keeping its doors open, its lights burning and vital supplies on-hand, thus enabling the organization to maintain and enhance its many programs and services so important to serving children with mild to severe disabilities.

The Joseph Sams School continues to serve between 100-120 children annually through its many programs and services, which include a 10-month school year program, summer school, a collaborative afterschool program with the Fayette County School System, and a Tutorial Clinic.

“There are truly no adequate words to express our sincerest appreciation to such an amazing organization, The Clothes Less Traveled Thrift Shop,” said JSS Executive Director Amy Murray. “So many local charities, including JSS, are blessed to have this wonderful organization in our community.  The number of community members committed to volunteering at CLT is certainly indicative of the amazing work it does and its commitment to the charities of our community. We applaud the wonderful support provided so many worthy non-profit organizations in our community, and encourage our JSS families and community members to donate their gently used clothing, household items and books to CLT in order help this wonderful organization continue their good work in the community.”

Now in its 31st year, The Joseph Sams School is a fully accredited, private, non-profit organization currently serving children who have mild to severe cognitive, physical or diagnosed developmental disabilities.

The JSS is the only fully-accredited school of its kind in the metropolitan Atlanta area offering comprehensive services from birth through age 22 to such a broad range of individuals with disabilities. For more information, visit www.josephsamsschool.org.
