The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary is donating more than $7,000 in equipment to aid the mobility of the hospital’s orthopedic patients.

The Auxiliary purchased three Sara Stedy standing aids which are designed to help patients stand up more independently with the help of a caregiver.

“We believe in the mission of Piedmont Newnan Hospital to provide superior medical care to our community, and we are always excited when the hospital considers the Auxiliary’s assistance,” said Mary Ann Folk, Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary president. “We are committed to helping the hospital provide a higher level of patient care and satisfaction and to supporting the hospital’s goals both financially and through service.”

As a not-for-profit hospital, Piedmont Newnan relies on a strong force of volunteers to provide support for the hospital, its outpatient centers and the Coweta County community.

The Auxiliary has 109 members who not only volunteer their time to serve in different areas of the hospital but sponsor several fundraisers throughout the year, such as book sales, jewelry sales and the Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes.

“We are thankful to the Auxiliary for agreeing to donate the Sara Stedy equipment for the care of our patients,” said Merry Heath, director of Inpatient Services. “This equipment will provide a safer way to transition our orthopedic patients from bed to chair, from bed to vehicle, and for postsurgical ambulation.”
