Coweta’s nonprofits will be the stars of the show when the first Nonprofit Expo is hosted by the Coweta Community Foundation’s high school Community Service Team. The event is set for Thursday, Oct. 20, 4-7 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds, and admission is a $5 donation at the door.

“Indulge In Our Community” is the theme for the expo, planned entirely by the Community Service Team. The members want to celebrate the “sweet support” of the community for its nonprofits with educational exhibits presented alongside a delicious array of sweets.

Visitors can nibble their way through the selections as they check out all of the nonprofit displays and learn about the services they provide while tasting a sweet treat from each one. The offerings will include fruit and dip, cookies, brownies, pound cake, macaroon cookies, cupcakes, and cream cheese blackberry pastries.

Those attending will receive a to-go container at the door and are free to eat their treats on site or take them home to enjoy later. Attendees will vote for their top three organizations, and the admission proceeds will be shared between the winner and the Community Service Team.

Nonprofit groups confirmed so far include RiverLife, Christian City, Meals on Wheels, Family Patterns Matter, Coweta County Special Olympics, Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity and Coweta County Accountability Courts.

The Coweta Community Foundation is a publicly supported 501(c)3 organization that helps focus local philanthropy on the community’s changing needs. The Foundation manages individual gifts and bequests as an endowed pool of assets, distributing grants to a wide variety of organizations that enhance and support the quality of life in Coweta County, while maintaining the charitable intent of the donors.
