Fayette County School Superintendent Dr. Joseph C. Barrow is joining nearly 2,000 school system leaders from coast to coast at the 150th National Conference on Education in San Diego

The conference, held Feb. 26 – 28, is hosted by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), which is the national association for school superintendents.

Barrow is one of only three superintendents from Georgia currently serving on AASA’s Governing Board.

The group was founded in 1865 and serves thousands of education leaders throughout the United States. Through Barrow’s work with the organization, Fayette gains exposure at the national level, as well as opportunities to learn about best practices of school systems across the nation.

“Fayette County Schools have long been recognized as being a leader in Georgia educational issues, and as we work to reaching ‘world class status,’ it is important that we engage our system at the national and international levels,” Barrow said.

In addition to serving on the AASA Governing Board, Barrow is president of the Georgia School Superintendent’s Association (GSSA), and is involved in a number of educational advocacy issues.

The AASA national conference features more than 300 sessions that focus on curriculum issues, superintendent/school board relationships, governance and district management, leadership, curriculum and instruction, digitizing education, and healthy school environments.
