Win at Scrabble tonight
Fayette Presbyterian Church will host a Scrabble Night to benefit the Fayette Samaritans at Truett’s Pizza Café in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Dec. 14 between 5 and 8 p.m. Ten percent of all sales that night will go directly to the Fayette Samaritans. Those who bring a non-perishable food item to donate on Scrabble Night will get a free ice cream.

Gospel Community Church play starts Friday
Gospel Community Church in Fayetteville will present “The Gift of Giving,” a Christmas stage play, Friday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 17, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., at 383 Fayette Place, Fayetteville. Adult tickets may be purchased for a $25 donation or $12.50 with a wrapped toy for a needy child. Tickets for children under 12 may be purchased for a $5 donation, and children under two are admitted free. Those attending are requested to dress in ‘70s attire —  afros, bangled earrings, bell bottoms, hot pants and ‘70s colored clothing.

Wind Ensemble plans concert Dec. 16
The Peachtree Wind Ensemble’s 2016 Christmas Concert will be held Friday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m., at North Fayette United Methodist Church, 847 New Hope Rd., in Fayetteville.  For more information visit  peachtreewindensemble.org

Flat Rock ground breaking set for Saturday
Flat Rock A.M.E. Church, the oldest African-American church in Fayette County, will hold a ground breaking ceremony Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m., for its new expansion center. The church is at 148 Old Chapel Lane, Fayetteville. The Rev. Edward J. Johnson Jr. is senior pastor.

Summit to host dinner, concert
The Summit Church will celebrate the “The Sounds of Christmas” with Michael Wheeler and musicians from Clayton State University on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 6  p.m. The dinner and program are open and free to the public. Food baskets available Dec. 17
The New Family of Christ Ministries will distribute food baskets (turkey included) for the Christmas holiday season, on Saturday, Dec. 17,  beginning at 9 a.m.  Please note the quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first come basis.  In addition, please have proof of income (WIC, TANDEM, etc.) and  Fayette County ID.  It is the church’s  greatest endeavor allowing all to have a Merry Christmas!

St. Christopher’s luncheon is Sunday
This Sunday, Dec. 18, St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church will have Orthros from 7:45 – 9 a.m.,  Divine Liturgy from  9 -10:30 a.m., and a Community Christmas Program with luncheon starting at 10:45 a.m.  St. Christopher’s is at 313 Dividend Dr., Peachtree City.

All Saints hosts Lessons and Carols
All Saints Anglican Church will host its annual Lessons and Carols this Sunday, Dec. 18, at 10:30 a.m. The Festival of  Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus that is traditionally followed at Christmas. The story of the promise of the Messiah and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible  readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas, carols, hymns and choir music. All Saints is located at 149 Ebenezer Rd.,  Fayetteville,  east of Peachtree City.  All are welcome to attend this special service.
