‘The Walking Dead’ to return to Senoia in 2013

Looks like America’s top-rated television show will be returning to Senoia and Coweta County for its fourth season. Stalwart Films spokesman Mike Riley made the announcement Thursday at the meeting of the Coweta County Commission as he thanked the county and its residents for their support of the AMC network’s hit show, “The Walking Dead.”

"The Walking Dead" will be coming back for a fourth season and will be associated with Senoia’s Raleigh Studios, Riley said, adding that pre-production for the show will probably begin in March.

Riley said that, along with being the most viewed show on television, "The Walking Dead" is seen by viewers each week in 120 countries.

Riley was at the commission meeting, as he had been earlier in the week at the meeting of the Senoia City Council, to thank Coweta commissioners, Senoia council members, the Coweta County Board of Education, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce and Coweta residents for their support.

Riley’s thanks were on behalf of the cast and crew, Stalwart Films and the AMC network.

“It was a very successful season and we couldn't have done it without you,” Riley said. “It’s a big success and you guys are a part of it.”

Raleigh Studio in Senoia

is expanding to the lot next door. Tomorrow night, at the Coweta County BOC meeting, there is a variance request for the material used on the exterior of some of the buildings they are going to build.

Phase 1, 6 new buildings, up to 15,000 sq. ft. up to 35 ft. high (higher than that will need more approvals), consisting of 4 soundstages, production facilities and offices.

This is for The Walking Dead franchise, looks they will be staying for quite a while out there.

Kudzu Productions is the name. Now, if they could just bring Herschel back on his farm which is right across Chestlehurst Rd. Or at least his twin, who no one ever saw as he hid out in the attic..........

The Walking Dead has just been renewed

by AMC for a Season 5. No word yet on where it will be filmed.

Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Andrew Lincoln (Rick) are now being represented by CAA. Ka-ching!

AMC is also going to add a new TV series as a companion series to TWD and hopes to start airing in 2015. It will not be based on any of the comic TWC and will have a whole new cast but will have zombies and an apocalypse. Same producers as TWD< Robert Kirkman and Gale Ann Hurd and David Alpert. No word on where that will be filmed, either.

Glenn on The Walking Dead

(for those who follow it) was out on one of the empty home lots next to the townhomes on Saturday with a small film crew and was filming an interview. I waved as I went by, but one of his handlers waved me off. Not as nice as my wave, so I continued on.

First time (and probably the last) I have seen one of the cast out in the open like that.

There is a white house on Plyant St. right behind there that has had some heavy filming going on for the last 10 days. Their film permit for that spot expires on Wednesday.

Oh, the Governor (David Morrissey) has been chosen as the lead and been filming in the Atlanta area for a new tv show on AMC. All while filming for TWD, too. So, who knows how long he will be back on the Dead.

MLC-Glenn and Hershel

I was with a group of friends last year at the Southern Country Steakhouse in Senoia. Glenn and Hershel were there with some of the Walking Dead film crew. Both were very nice and didn't seem to be bothered that we wanted to talk with them and take pictures etc. When I thanked Hershel (Scott Wilson) for putting up with us he responded with a smile and warm handshake.

Food So So ..but fun on Karaoke night for adults. There is smoking after 9 pm , not a bad place for a drink, a game of pool, and karaoke.

Agree on the food--went once and won't return. But they stay in business--guess that stands for something.

That's a nice story. I bet that cast doesn't get out as much as they wish they could. As I was leaving Senoia, driving down Rockaway, a huge plain white bus with no markings other than "charter" over the front windshield was coming into Senoia coming toward PTC. I almost turned around to follow it, but instead just let my imagination go wild. Never have seen a bus period going into Senoia.
Maybe was a band for The Social Club or maybe they transport cast and crew to wherever they go at the end of the day? Just guessing on either.

The Walking Dead Alert (on a lighter note)

Filming will be in Senoia between 291 Plyant St. and Gin St. in the 5 day period between Aug. 19th and 28th. Some streets will be closed. Kinda down near the townhouses where Scotty lives.

Woodbury town hall is gone, the train cars are gone, too. Zombies are still there, somewhere, just waiting....lot's more of them than ever..and they are smarter this fall....so they say...Oct. 13th 9PM.

The Walking Dead preview coming Oct. 13th

of season 4. They have filmed about one third of the new season so far.

I noticed that Woodbury Town Hall on Main St. in Senoia has been covered over with black plastic wrap. At least for now.

However, for another visual, take a ride out to Turin to see the newest Barbie Beach. It is now Barbie Beach Air Show.

Seems Mike Riley (above) will ask the Newnan City Council tomorrow evening for permission to film The Walking Dead at the old Newnan Hospital campus on Jackson St. during the month of July.

Old hospitals are cool

I was evaluating an old hospital a few years ago in Gwinnett after they shot a movie in it. Pretty creepy.

I agree, H&F; old hospitals...

...can be cool! My wife, in 1987, studied Russian at the Army's DLI (Defense Language Institute) at the Presidio of San Francisco and lived in an old VA hospital. She shared a old operating room split between her & another Soldier; it was kinda neat w/ the old wall gas (oxygen, etc..) connection and such. Once you got furniture in there, it was much more 'homey'!

Hospitals

The scene in Gwinnett was creepy because it had theatrical blood on the walls, holes strategically placed, ect.. Had to give kudos to the broker for allowing them to film.

Back in '97 or 98 I was on a disaster relief team that assisted hospitals in cleanup after hurricanes. When one hospital had to evacuate when it's roof blew off, my team showed up to batten down the hatches and get it operational ASAP. Now that was creepy walking thru a deserted hospital, with only some emergency lights and water pouring in. If someone had a video camera, they could have saved a lot of film costs.

Peachtree City was mentioned

on the aftershow tonight "The Talking Dead" on AMC. The show host, Chris Hardwick, was talking to the actor who got killed on The Walking Dead tonight and he mentioned Peachtree City was where they film and that was where the two of them ran into each other one time. Not earth shattering, but twas kind of neat to hear our city mentioned on TV.

Good thing for PTC, too. PTC has a new van tour that will swing out there. Rumor has it Scotty is negotiating to be the tour guide. With or without 2 legs.
