When it comes to the festivities leading up to Christmas, Senoia is one place that should be on everyone’s list. The Christmas season begins Dec. 6 with the many activities included in the annual Light Up Senoia event.

First up from approximately 1:30-3:30 p.m. will be the return of the world-famous Clydesdales (weather permitting). Their appearance is always a hit and has drawn more than 1,000 people in past years during each visit.

The highlight of every Light Up Senoia event is the parade that begins at 5:30 p.m. As usual, the parade and its many entries come with all the trimmings to set the tone for the holidays.

Prior to the parade the downtown area will be the setting for a number of other activities. Among those are pony rides, face painting and Santa’s workshop.

The afternoon will also feature the lighting of the Christmas tree by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

And the day would not be completed with food, plenty of food. Whether barbecue, funnel cakes, hot dogs or hot chocolate, make sure the family comes hungry.

As for downtown businesses, they will be open late.
