Fayette County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a driver who fled the scene of a serious injury vehicle crash Monday evening on Pine Knott Road in north Fayette County, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

Hunter Ross Cooper, 19, of 201 Mitchell Road, Fayetteville was arrested today (Wednesday, June 25) and charged with a litany of offenses including obstruction of a law enforcement officer, two felony counts of causing serious injury by vehicle, DUI, endangering a child while DUI, hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked or suspended license and other traffic offenses along with one charge of violating probation, according to jail documents.

Deputies allege that Cooper was squired away from the area by his grandmother, George Ann Brown, 69, also of 201 Mitchell Road, Fayetteville, who faces one misdemeanor charge of obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

When deputies responded to the crash site around 9:45 p.m. June 23, they found three injured passengers ranging from 16 to 20 years old, Babb said. Another injured passenger, a female, had fled the scene with Cooper initially but was located on Buckeye Road and taken to a hospital for treatment, Babb said.
