A Peachtree City author was named Georgia Author of the Year for Best First Novel by the Georgia Writers Association June 7.

Victoria Wilcox authored “Inheritance,” which is the first in a historical fiction trilogy about the life and times of Georgia native Doc Holliday.

She discovered the story while serving as the founding director of the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House Museum in Fayetteville, and Wilcox subsequently spent 18 years researching and writing about Holliday.

The work took her across the country to all the places he knew in his adventurous life, and her newest book in the trilogy is now out, entitled “Gone West.”

Wilcox will be signing copies of the book Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Omega Books in Peachtree City.

“Inheritance” is the first book of the saga and is set during the turbulent times of Civil War and Reconstruction, as young John Henry Holliday faces first love and family tragedy, honor and betrayal, and a violent encounter that changes his life forever.

“Gone West,” book two in the saga and released in May 2014, explores how a gentleman becomes an outlaw, how an outlaw becomes a lawman, and how a Southern son named John Henry becomes a legend called Doc Holliday.

The book is published by Knox Robinson Publishing of London and New York.

Congrats to you, Mrs. W!

and everyone should know the talent in that family extends to her hubby, too. He is the best darn dentist this city has, by far.

Now, if someone local with a lotta bucks around here... were to buy her movie rights, well, we all can see where that would take us, now don't we?

I'll second that. Will I be able to recognize you in the waiting room by haircut or body build?

Well now, I think it would be by my pearly whites! The other two, just a regular schmoe, I'm afraid. And you?
