Edgar L. Banks, Jr., 87, of Fayetteville

Edgar L. Banks, Jr., 87, of Fayetteville, passed away June 5, 2014.

He was a Past Master of Riverdale Masonic Lodge 709 in 1962. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his wife Helen Darnell Banks; daughter Diane Hambrick; and grandson John Hambrick, Jr.

He is survived by his son Wayne & Joyce Banks of Senoia; daughters Kay Banks of Fayetteville and Nancy & Mike Guy of Newnan; grandchildren Christie & Don Mappin of Sharpsburg, Carrie Hambrick of Fayetteville, Terri Bryan of Senoia, Traci Hammock of Senoia, Heather & Ben Wood of Covington, and Matt Guy of Newnan; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Kathleen & Ray Macmahon of McDonough.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Connection Church (Corinth Road), Jonesboro. Mr. Banks will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Reverend Lance Sumner will officiate. The burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Government
