Mrs. Mary Louise Akins Jenkins, 92, of Fayetteville, died February 14, 2015.
She enjoyed volunteering and gardening and most recently attended Pine Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Jenkins was a celebrated citizen as Fayette Woman’s Magazine cover story for April 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Jenkins, III; son Cyril Burton Dawkins; daughter Beverly Ann Dawkins; and brother Garnet Columbus Akins.
She is survived by her son Dr. John & Donna Jenkins of Fayetteville; daughter Dr. Tara J. & Rick Spriggs of Douglasville; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; cousins Merle Wright of West Virginia, John Glaze of Atlanta, Mary Ruth Cook and Martha Cook Cone, both of Blairsville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the Connection Church (formerly Corinth Baptist). She will lie in state from 11 to 12. Dr. John Jenkins, Mr. Bryan Nation, and Rev. Scott Hollingsworth will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Mozely Memorial Gardens (3180 Sweetwater Rd, Lithia Springs). The family received friends Tuesday at the funeral home.
